RuPaul’s Drag Race season 6 winner Bianca Del Rio is set to made her feature film debut in the revenge comedy Hurricane Bianca, premiering Friday at the Inside Out LGBT Film Festival in Toronto.
The film stars Del Rio as a teacher from New York who is fired from his job at a small-town Texas high school because he is gay, so he returns disguised a woman to seek revenge on a variety of wacky characters from the bigoted town.
Rounding out the star-studded cast are fellow Drag Race favorites Willam Belli, Shangela, Joslyn Fox, and Alyssa Edwards, as well as comedian Rachel Dratch, Alan Cumming, Margaret Cho, and — wait for it — RuPaul himself!
“When I read the script, I thought it was genuinely funny and the underlying message of acceptance is very timely,” said Dratch in a statement. “Also, anytime I get to hang out with drag queens, I’m there!”
Added Cumming: “I am such a huge fan of Bianca and Roy. I think this film will be an amazing way for the world to see and find out more about both of them.”
In a press release Thursday, Wolfe Releasing announced plans to distribute the film on DVD, VOD, and digital platforms in by fall or winter 2016.
