In the USA: NCAA Football Bowl season kicked off with a slew of Bowl games from throughout the US.
The Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This was a great start to bowl season, with two relatively little know teams who had great seasons: North Carolina Central (9-2) vs. Grambling State (11-1) This is a clash of the MEAC and SWAC champs pitting versatile QBs Malcolm Bell and DeVante Kincade against each other. These FCS teams' only losses this season came against FBS opponents. The winner will be the 2016 black college national champion.
Elsewhere, the New Mexico Bowl pitted Texas (San Antonio) against New Mexico. The Las Vegas Bowl pitted Houston against San Diego State. The Camellia Bowl featured Appalachian State vs. Toledo in Montgomery, Alabama. The New Orleans Bowl featureed an exciting battle between Southern Mississippi and Louisiana (Lafayette).
In NCAA Basketball, Georgetown traveled to Syracuse, Ohio State to UCLA, and Kentucky to North Carolina.
UK: Premier League Soccer featured bouts between Middlesbrough vs. Swansea, Crystal Palace vs. Chelsea, Stoke City vs. Leicester, and West Brom vs. Manchester United.
Italy: Serie A Soccer featured an epic battle between Roma and Iuventus at Iuventus Stadium. Perennial winners Juventus were under pressure against the best Roma team in recent memory. This had been dubbed the match of the season. Iuve, although winning, had been accused of playing poorly all season, and Roma was on the rise.
Only four points separated the two teams in the standings. It seems to many that only Roma could challenge Iuventus for the season title. This game would determine a lot. A win against the Champions of Italy would not only confirm American owned Roma's rising status but it would send a clear signal of intent that they could win the title.
This was the fourth round of the European Rugby Champions Cup. Toulouse vs. Zebre Rugby was only one of the exciting games which will be contested.
In Cricket rankings, India, England and Australia lead the Test rankings. ODI rankings placed Australia, then South Africa and India. The top three in Twenty20 were New Zealand, India, and South Africa.

The sporting world looks today to one of the greatest athletes in Association Football, representing his team versus their arch rivals.

Spain
Barcelona vs. Real Madrid. El Clasico. Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid, under expert management of Zinedine Zidane, take on arch rivals Barcelona this afternoon in one of the greatest rivalries in sport. Real Madrid currently sits at number one in La Liga and is six points ahead of Barca, struggling this year. Could that change in a few short hours?
England
Manchester City vs. Chelsea should be an intense soccer game.
USA
NCAA College Basketball is heating up. Today UCLA travels to Kentucky. Top freshmen T.J. Leaf and Lonzo Ball lead the Bruins against Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox of the Kentucky Wildcats. UCLA won last year 87-77, which was then No. 1 Kentucky's first defeat of the year.
Still undefeated Alabama takes on 7-3 Florida in NCAA Football today, in Atlanta, for the SEC Championship game. This is the 9th time the teams have contested the title, Alabama winning last year, and heavy favorites to win this year. Wisconsin takes on Penn State in Indianapolis for the Big 10 Championship Title.
The Australian PGA Championship final round play at RACV Royal Pines Resort in Gold Coast, Queensland is today, or was yesterday, or will be tomorrow... Sometimes schedules are hard to read... Sorry mates...
Aussie Nathan Holman was last year's champion. The is the season opener for the 2017 European Tour.
In Sydney, Australia hosts New Zealand in Cricket today.
