SOME PEOPLE RISE TO A CELEBRITY STATUS BECAUSE THEY ARE SPECIAL. THEY ARE PEACE MAKING POLITICIANS, AMAZING ATHLETES, BORN IN ROYALTY OR PEOPLE WHO HAVE A TALENT TO ENRICH OTHER PEOPLES LIVES. PEOPLE WHO ENTERTAIN US IN MOVIES AND PLAYS. PEOPLE WHO ARE BLESSED WITH A VOICE AND MUSICAL TALENT AND HAVE THE GIFT TO TOUCH OUR HEARTS AND SOULS.
2016 Took many of those celebrities away from us. 126 People that all left their special mark passed away. Many of them simply because they had lived a long and fruitful life, but also many - too many - that still had so much to give. To live for.
David Bowie, 69, the other-worldly musician who broke pop and rock boundaries with his creative musicianship that spanned six decades.
Rene Angelil, 73, Celine Dion's husband and manager, who molded her from a French-speaking Canadian ingénue into one of the world's most successful singer.
Alan Rickman, 69, the classically-trained British stage star and sensual screen villain in the "Harry Potter" saga.
Denise Katrina Matthews, 57, better known as Prince protege Vanity who sang in girl band Vanity 6.
Prince, 57, one of the most inventive and influential musicians of modern times.
Christina Grimmie, 22, the singer-songwriter and YouTuber who gained greater popularity on "The Voice."
Anton Yelchin, 27, charismatic and rising actor best known for playing Chekov in the new "Star Trek" films.
Carrie Fisher, 60, best know for her portrayal of Star Wars' Princess Leia, followed 1 day later by her mother Debbie Reynolds.
And George Michael at age 53. One of the people who hit me personally the hardest with his untimely passing. A man of exceptional talent and kindness.
There where many more, many that for one reason or the other touched us all. And therefore it is so hard for us all. 2016 has, in that light, been a terrible year. There have been good moments too, but the long list of people we've lost overshadows all. So here is a tribute, to those portrayed here, the other celebrities that passed away and all other people that lost their lives during this year
