"Call me Fiona!"From: NewNowNext
Richard Simmons’ team is responding to a National Enquirer cover story claiming the flamboyant fitness expert is transitioning.
The tabloid is reporting that Simmons lives as a woman in his Hollywood Hills home, and goes by the name Fiona. The publication also claims to have never-before-seen photos of him “draped in furs and lingerie.” The Enquirer also says that he is planning to undergo breast implant surgery and hormone therapy.
“Not true and a total fabrication,” Tom Estey, Simmons’ rep of 27 years, told CBS News.
A friend of Simmons’ told The Enquirer that Richard “has been enjoying ’girls’ nights out’ after supposedly revealing her new identity on a Miami hotel balcony, before he decided to go into hiding.” They also claim that he has been seen out in Buenos Aires and Venice, Italy dressed as a woman.
“Richard behaved and spoke as a woman the whole evening. He was wearing a rainbow-colored wig, was very softly spoken and had all the mannerisms of a woman,” revealed the source. “He appeared to be totally natural and comfortable as a woman. I was quite shocked and surprised, but to Richard and his manager, it seemed like the most natural thing in the world.”
This is just the latest bizarre chapter in Simmons’ life. After retiring from the spotlight last year friends of the celebrity fitness instructor claimed that he was being held against his will in his home by a maid who practiced black magic. “I am not kidnapped,” he later told ET executive producer Brad Bessey by phone. “I am just in my house right now.”
Then just last week Simmons’ was hospitalized for “bizarre behavior,” which he later attributed to severe dehydration. “I was dehydrated and needed some fluids and now I am feeling great,” he told reporters upon his release.
You should always take a National Enquirer story with a grain of salt, but remember that they were the first outlet to break the story of Bruce Jenner transitioning to Caitlyn back in 2014.
