ABC’s summer soap Mistresses is back for its fourth season, and it’s adding out actor/activist Wilson Cruz and trans comedian Ian Harvie to its lineup.
Cruz, seen most recently on Heartbeat and Red Band Society, plays Dante, “a fiercely fabulous personal shopper” who helps resident hunk Harry (Brett Tucker) get his style together. (Not too stereotypically, we hope.)
Harvie, who plays Dale on Amazon’s Transparent, will appear in a multi-episode arc later this season.
He’s playing a wealthy financier who hires boutique owner April (Rochelle Aytes) to decorate his house. But their close working relationship will cause some strain in her new romance with Marc (Rob Mayes).
Will Harvie be a romantic complication for the couple? That would be an amazing breakthrough for a trans actor.
Based on the hit UK series of the same name, Mistresses follows four girlfriends—Karen (Yunjin Kim), April (Rochelle Aytes), Josslyn (Jes Macallan) and Calista (Jennifer Esposito)—as they follow their own paths to self discovery.
Mistresses airs Monday at 10pm on ABC.
