  One year after the Latin pop star came out as gay, he was honored with the Vito Russo Award for work promoting visibility and equality, especially for Latino youth and their parents.

After recalling how GLAAD helped him deal with a homophobic reporter in Puerto Rico, the “Vida Loca” singer declared, “I can say, today, ’I’m free.'
