April 26th is Bob Wills Day

The 42nd annual Bob Wills Day will be celebrated over the course of three days with music, food and dancing from April 24-26 in Turkey, Texas.

Thursday will offer a museum show with performances by Bobby Koefer, Joe Settlemires, Jason Roberts, Billy Mata and more. Seating is limited.

From 8 to 11 p.m. will be a dance featuring Bobby Koefer, Jimmy Young, Joe Settlemires, Wayne Glasson, Lee Barlow, Jason Roberts, Jimmy Burson and Chad Maines.

Friday opens up with a breakfast provided by the Turkey Lions Club from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bob Wills’ Center Cafeteria.

Another museum show will be held at 1 p.m.

From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., there will be a dance with the Friends of the Texas Playboys, led by Billy Mata and with a special appearance by Jason Roberts.

From 9 p.m. to midnight will be a dance with Jake Hooker and The Outsiders.

On Saturday, there’s a parade at 10 a.m.; a BBQ lunch at 11 a.m.; an old fiddlers contest at 11:30 a.m.; a free outdoor concert at 2:30 p.m. with former Texas Playboys Leon Rausch, Joe Set, Bobby K., Jimmy Young and Casey Dickens; lawnmower races/pulls at 3:30 p.m.; a dance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with The South Plains College Western Swing Band under the direction of Joe Carr; and a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight with Jody Nix and The Texas Cowboys.

All dance tickets are $15 per person.

Bob Wills was an American western swing musician, songwriter and bandleader.
