Heavy Metal
The first “adult” animated film many of us saw, it repulsed and fascinated me when it saw it on, of course, HBO. An anthology of scifi and horror vignettes (some awesome, some just stupid), it featured a mysterious glowing orb that provided the link between segments, the most terrifying for me (and I remember regretting sneaking down at midnight to watch it) a short bit about about a WWII bomber … and flesh eating zombies. It scores extra points for the killer soundtrack, which features “Blue Lamp,” one of Stevie Nicks‘ greatest songs.
