Donald Trump Spokeswoman Katrina Pierson In 2012: “Gay Is Not Normal”
Katrina Pierson told Buzzfeed her comments are not "relevant."
From: NewNowNext
From: NewNowNext
Donald Trump’s official national campaign spokesperson Katrina Pierson has responded to hateful comments she made about the gay community in 2012, calling them “humorous and sarcastic banter.”
Buzzfeed’s Dominic Holden uncovered the disparaging comments while digging through Pierson’s Twitter history.
In 2012, Pierson apparently engaged a gay Texan who pressed her for her views on same-sex marriage.
“Gay is not normal, accept that,” she wrote in response.
@michael_atx You will never for acceptance, but you could win coexistance. Gay is not normal, accept that.— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 1, 2012
@michael_atx I didn't realize that #marriage was in the U.S. Constitution? Did I miss that page? Federal license? @tedcruz #txsen— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 1, 2012
@michael_atx Even getting "married" in a church doesn't make it a marriage.— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) March 1, 2012
Holden notes that throughout the exchange, Pierson also claimed that “getting ’married’ in a church doesn’t make it a marriage,” and questioned where the Constitution addresses marriage equality.
Asked for her response to the anti-gay comments, especially given Trump’s recent self-identification as “a friend of the LGBT community,” Pierson merely dismissed the man as a “troll” and her comments as “banter.”
“It’s a long reach to go back to 2012 to try to create a new hit piece and call it relevant,” she told Buzzfeed in an email.
“You’ll also find that as a grassroots volunteer for multiple campaigns, it’s quite common that Twitter is a platform to promote/defend the policies and values of the candidates at the time. Many times, it’s about engaging trolls which can lead to humorous and sarcastic banter.”
“I’m sure you’ll also find that the positions/values of the candidates are not necessarily a sole reflection of the individual promoting or supporting said candidate,” she added. “Therefore, there is nothing to square.”
On Twitter, the man Pierson argued with in 2012 is left wondering why nobody cared about the exchange in 2012—
Lol a conversation I had in 2012 is suddenly relevant now that the subject matter is moot.— Michael Diviesti (@michael_atx) August 3, 2016
We've bigger problems than Trump's spokesperson saying anti-LGBT shit in 2012. Poverty, hunger, racism, sexism. Let's solve these please.— Michael Diviesti (@michael_atx) August 3, 2016

Chicago Fire GM Did Something Amazing To Stop Anti-Gay Chants At Soccer Game
"This chant is offensive. It's vulgar, it's inappropriate and it runs contrary ...to the spirit of Chicago," said Nelson Rodriguez.

Shouting anti-gay slurs during games is unfortunately a common occurrence among some soccer fans, but the general manager of the Chicago Fire decided to take a brave stand against the offensive chants.
After the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus finished a performance of the national anthem during Pride night on Sunday, Nelson Rodriguez walked out onto the field alone to make an announcement.
Addressing the fans, the general manager said that the infamous anti-gay Mexican soccer chant “puto” would not be tolerated.
“An inappropriate and offensive chant has been used by some of our fans,” Rodriguez said. “It is unbecoming and certainly not reflective of the great city that we live in, and the best fans in major league soccer.”
“Please be advised that if the chant continues and you are found to be participating, you are subject to removal,” he added. “If you are near fans using offensive language, please advise stadium security so we can handle that as well.”
A few boos were reportedly heard, but overall the announcement was met with applause from the stands.
There are different opinions as to whether or not “puto,” which translates in Spanish to “male prostitute,” is actually an anti-gay slur, but it’s undeniable that it is often used in Mexican culture as a derogatory term for effeminate men.
It can be heard chanted in unison at almost any match involving the Mexican national team, but Rodriguez said it is vulgar, offensive and has to stop.
He also pointed out that it “is not clever or creative, or catchy or appropriate in any way.”
“I’m not deaf. I heard a smattering of boos,” he said about his message on the field. “But that’s a very small minority of fans, and I don’t care if they don’t return. In fact, personally, if they are booing the message as opposed to booing the messenger, go find another team to support.”

Cameron Douglas’s Life After Prison Includes Modeling Gigs and a Giant Tattoo of His Father, Michael Douglas
From: Yahoo! Celebrity
Cameron Douglas is living up his newfound freedom in New York City.
The 37-year-old son of Michael Douglas and his ex-wife, Diandra, was released from prison early after serving nearly seven years on drug charges. Cameron was transferred to a halfway house in Brooklyn weeks ago, and he has been spotted hitting the streets with his girlfriend, yoga instructor Viviane Thibes.
So, what has Cameron been up to following his release? Modeling!
He wrote alongside one shot of him posing in a tank top, “Dreaming big today & So grateful for it”
His biggest post-prison reveal? A giant stomach tattoo featuring his father’s face – from Michael’s Oscar-winning role as Gordon Gekko in Wall Street – and his grandfather, legendary The Bad and the Beautiful actor Kirk Douglas, with “TIMELESS” scrawled underneath.
Cameron also shared a tribute to his 99-year-old grandfather, captioning it, “They don’t make them like this anymore. This man inspired me through my entire bit…”
Otherwise, Cameron is just generally documenting being a New Yorker, except with fewer selfies on his Instagram. (Give him time to catch up.)
And with Page Six reporting that he plans to write a book about his years in prison and his struggles as the child and grandchild of Hollywood icons, Cameron promised to start sharing poems with his fans.
Cameron was sentenced to five years for possession of heroin and selling methamphetamine in 2010, a sentence that was extended when he admitted to smuggling drugs into prison. In 2013, he penned an op-ed for The Huffington Post about the “outdated” justice system.
“I’m not saying that I didn’t deserve to be punished or that I’m worthy of special treatment,” he wrote. “I made mistakes and I’ll gladly and openly admit my faults. However, I seem to be trapped in a vicious cycle of relapse and repeat, as most addicts are. Unfortunately, whereas the effective remedy for relapse should be treatment, the penal system’s ‘answer’ is to lock the door and throw away the key.”
