“Someone Like You”: Adele Will Be Bridesmaid At Gay Comedian’s Wedding
UK presenter Alan Carr recently got engaged to his boyfriend in Indonesia.

After announcing his engagement to long-term boyfriend Paul Drayton last week, comedian and TV host Alan Carr said that he’d like the pair’s close pal Adele to perform and be a bridesmaid at their wedding.
Carr told The Sun that his hubby surprised him with the proposal while the two were resting at their hotel while on holiday in Indonesia.
“He asked me to marry him in Lombok,” Carr said.
“I went to the toilet and came out to eat dessert,” he explained.
“And then I was like, ‘Oh my God, a filling’s come out, just my luck on holiday.’”
“I pull it out and it’s this ring and then the man on the organ starts singing Can you feel the love tonight?”
“Then the chef, all the staff came out and the manager and sang Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” he continued, “but they didn’t know the next lyric, so they just sang, ‘Can you feel the love tonight? Can you feel the love tonight?’”
He concluded: “So it was my idea of hell, but of course I said yes.”
While Carr hasn’t planned out all the details of the big day, he knows it’ll be a grand event and that he’ll get his celebrity BFF Adele to join the wedding party and sing.
“The engagement only happened last week so I don’t know exactly what we’ll do,” he added.
“But a big old wedding and we’ll get Adele singing ’Someone Like You.’”
Carr might have to wait in line, though, because Adele recently promised another newly-engaged gay couple that she’d sing at their wedding after bringing them on stage at a concert.

‘Summer Babes’ Hit the Beach at Fire Island Pines for Pinesfest
From: Towleroad
The inaugural edition of Pinesfest, a music festival and fundraiser set on the beach in Fire Island Pines over Labor Day weekend had a rough start.
The event was created to celebrate the Pines community during three days of ten-hour-long parties with major headliners such as Australian singer (and gay-favorite) Betty Who, famed Italian DJ duo The Cube Guys, as well as beach workouts with Barry’s Bootcamp, TMPL Gym, and Swerve trainers.
Mean girl Hermine wasn’t invited but showed up, anyway; and she brought in a little drama with her. The messy storm that threatened to bring dangerous weather conditions to the Long Island coast led to a voluntary evacuation alert and some ferry cancellations.
Thankfully, Hermine got to the party a little late and only the final day of the event had to be canceled due to safety concerns.
“To ensure the safety of our guests, we were required to evacuate the beach yesterday evening. Programming scheduled for today, Monday, September 5, will be rescheduled for a future date, to be announced,” the event’s Facebook page noted.
But even with the hurricane threat, Pinesfest “hosted nearly a thousand guests and raised several thousand dollars for the two non-profit beneficiaries”, according to organizers. “The generous way the community embraced what we did here was rewarding and remarkable. The incredible artists, phenomenal food, DJs, Betty Who, a jousting bouncy bounce – neighbors and friends were out en masse to show their support for doing something unique, exciting and new,” said Pinesfest creator Greg Dyer.
Pinesfest benefitted The Hetrick Martin Institute, the nation’s oldest and largest non-profit agency dedicated to serving LGBTQ youth and The Fire Island Pines Seashore Defense Fund, a non-profit that helps protect the beaches of the Pines by providing emergency funding for immediate action, whenever it’s needed.
The first day, which celebrated the power of community and the beauty of charity went on as planned. And the season’s hottest men took over the dance floor — as women — for Babes of Summer, the Labor Day Drag Party.
Drag was mandatory, hunty.
We were there to check things out. See what you missed!

“Golden Girls” Action Figures Debuting At New York Comic Con
"We almost weren't prepared for the excitement," says Funko's Mark Robben.

The Golden Girls hail from Miami, but our favorite sitcom foursome will be making a big splash in New York City this week: Funko is releasing brand new action-figure versions of Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sofia at the New York Comic Con, running October 6 to 9.
Sold together, the four figures are a convention exclusive, though Funko recently released a line of Golden Girls bobble heads that are widely available.
More than 20 years after the show went off the air, Golden Girls fandom is bigger than ever: A GG puppet parody has opened off-Broadway and New Yorkers will soon be able to get cheesecake at Rue’s Cafe, which will include memorabilia and recipes from the late actress.
“The response to our Golden Girls products has been wild,” Funco’s marketing director Mark Robben told ABC News.
“We almost weren’t prepared for the excitement. We created these as a passion project initially, and were blown away when it started trending on social media.”
Adding that the show was “ahead of its time,” Robben says he expects the figures will sell out fast.

434th Anniversary of the Introduction of the Gregorian Calendar |
From October 5–October 14, 1582, time was erased. Not literally, of course; just on the calendar. These ten days were declared non-existent by then-pope Gregory XIII as part of a realignment of the Julian calendar, implemented by Julius Caesar in 46 B.C. In the mid-1570s, it was discovered that the Julian calendar was actually 10 days behind the seasons of the year. For example, Easter began falling later in the spring than it should have and eventually would have drifted into summer. The calendar creep was the result of the solar year (the time it takes Earth to make one revolution around the sun) being around 11 minutes shy of the full Julian calendar. To be precise, the solar year is actually 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds.
Pope Gregory saved the day (and season) by appointing a commission to solve the problem. It took five years, but eventually the group, led by physician Aloysius Lilius and astronomer Christopher Clavius, proposed eliminating three leap years every 400 years to keep the calendar on track. To transition to the Gregorian calendar, ten days were declared officially non-existent, with the day after October 4, 1582 declared October 15th. First implemented by Italy, Spain, and Portugal, the Gregorian calendar is today’s most widely used system.
