Unconventional: Jesse Plemons

 Jesse Plemons was just three years old when he got his first professional acting job in a Coca-Cola commercial. At the age of 10, he began appearing in movies and television shows including Varsity Blues, Walker Texas Ranger, Judging Amy, Sabrina The Teenage Witch and CSI. Although not a regular fan of the series, I first took notice of the adorable Plemons on the football fiend with his role of Landry Clarke on the television series Friday Night Lights. 

Plemons has been working steadily since FNL ended including turns alongside Johnny Depp in Black Mass as well as a season on Breaking Bad. Plemons was also almost cast in the new Star Wars movie but the producers went with actor John Boyega for the role instead. Regular readers of FH know how much I love gingers, so it was great to see Plemons on the recent series premier of the second season of Fargo. 

 I loved Fargo last season. I loved the story, I loved the setting, the snow and the performances. Billy Bob Thorton, an actor I never really gave any attention to, was stunningly terrifying in his role. The entire cast of season 1 was outstanding and I was initially disappointed season 2 was a new story with all new actors.

 Fargo

So far, season two of Fargo is living up to the quality of season 1. I would have turned in for Patrick Wilson alone, but Plemons quickly became my favorite character. Plemons is certainly older, more mature and heavier than his time on Friday Night Lights, but he has not lost an ounce of his talent, nor an once of his sex appeal. Plemon's character Ed Blomquist is still a mystery, is he just covering up the deeds of his wife, or does he have his own sinister past that is being revealed. Given it is Fargo, I am guessing the latter. There are a lot of hot men in Fargo, but for my money, it would be Plemons I would want to snuggle up to on a snowy, freezing, bitterly cold Fargo night.

Katharine Houghton Hepburn (May 12, 1907 – June 29, 2003) was an American actress. Known for her fierce independence and spirited personality, Hepburn was a leading lady in Hollywood for more than 60 years. She appeared in a range of genres, from screwball comedy to literary drama, and received four Academy Awards for Best Actress—a record for any performer. In 1999, Hepburn was named by the American Film Institute as the greatest female star of Classic Hollywood Cinema.

Raised in Connecticut by wealthy, progressive parents, Hepburn began to act while studying at Bryn Mawr College. After four years in the theater, favorable reviews of her work on Broadway brought her to the attention of Hollywood. Her early years in the film industry were marked with success, including an Academy Award for her third picture, Morning Glory (1933), but this was followed by a series of commercial failures which led her to be labeled "box office poison" in 1938. Hepburn masterminded her own comeback, buying out her contract with RKO Radio Pictures and acquiring the film rights to The Philadelphia Story, which she sold on the condition that she be the star. In the 1940s she was contracted to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where her career focused on an alliance with Spencer Tracy. The screen-partnership spanned 25 years, and produced nine movies.

Hepburn challenged herself in the latter half of her life, as she regularly appeared in Shakespearean stage productions and tackled a range of literary roles. She found a niche playing middle-aged spinsters, such as in The African Queen (1951), a persona the public embraced. Three more Oscars came for her work in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), The Lion in Winter (1968) and On Golden Pond (1981). In the 1970s she began appearing in television films, which became the focus of her career in later life. She remained active into old age, making her final screen appearance in 1994 at the age of 87. After a period of inactivity and ill health, Hepburn died in 2003 at the age of 96.

Hepburn famously shunned the Hollywood publicity machine, and refused to conform to society's expectations of women. She was outspoken, assertive, athletic, and wore trousers before it was fashionable for women to do so. She married once, as a young woman, but thereafter lived independently. A 26-year affair with her co-star Spencer Tracy was hidden from the public. With her unconventional lifestyle and the independent characters she brought to the screen, Hepburn epitomized the "modern woman" in 20th century America and is remembered as an important cultural figure.

 You won’t see Buzzfeed’s Try Guys growing their ’staches for Movember, the monthlong facial hair campaign to raise awareness for prostate cancer. Instead, they’re taking the campaign seriously by going to have their own prostates checked out by a hilarious doctor. On camera.

And yes. This is the exam that involves a finger in the butt.

The guys learn in the video below that prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in the United States, and that 14 percent of men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some time in their life. They chat about what makes the exam so culturally taboo among dudes (spoiler alert: it’s masculinity) and why it’s dumb to avoid it for the sake of your pride.

We agree with Eugene on the matter: “If it takes just one finger up the butt to find out a life or death situation, stick the whole hand up my butt.”

I first featured the work of photographer Matías Coronado from eMCi photo back in December of 21012. (Ondas Electromagnéticas) I loved Matías clear and vibrant imagery and how he blends his engineering, music and film making passions into such outstanding visual creations. In that first piece, the focus was on shadow, depth and light. But in this piece, it is all about the X in the XXX.

When I saw Matías' images of adult star Massimo Piano it was all about the X, especially that baroque X stool he was so sensually straddling. The first image I saw was the photo I chose for pic of the day and I loved how Massimo was sitting, lying and utilizing his incredible body with the Renaissance chair that Matías provided for him.

The term “baroque” has been widely used since the nineteenth century to describe the period in Western European art music from about 1600 to 1750. The Baroque period is often thought of as a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance, theater, and music.'

This set of images, shot for the straight forwardly titled FuckerMate, a company Matías previously shot for. Matías blends his signature artistic flair along with the drama and grandeur of the time period by the use of the X stool, along with rich colors, poses and Massiomo's magnificent body and his incredibly beautiful green eyes.

Late Flight to Quantico

OK, my flight to Marine Corps Base in Quantico Virginia was a bit late. The new ABC drama is already a half dozen episodes in, but thanks to TV on Demand, I am going to book a return ticket and catch up. The entire cast cast, both male and female, are amazing, talented and incredibly hot. Lead Priyanka Chopra is not only gorgeous, she is without a doubt, destined for stardom. 

As you can see from some of these promotional shots, the show is not shy in promoting it's hunk heavy cast in a series of shirtless shots to have viewers wanting to check out the series. Blonde Graham Rogers is adorable, and the show gets his shirt quickly in the pilot. Graham is joined in the eye candy department by Jake McLaughlin, Tate Ellington, Rick Cosnett as well as Cougar Town's Josh Hopkins. So far I have only seen the pilot, but it pulls you in very quickly and has you wanting more. I look forward to catching up on the weekend and will be sure to share any future memorable moments.
