Judge Orders Wife Of Pulse Shooter To Stay In Jail Until Trial

Bond has been revoked in Orlando for Noor Salman, the widow of Omar Mateen

A federal judge in Orlando revoked bond on Friday for Noor Salman, the widow of the man responsible for the massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub last June, USA Today reports. This means that she will remain behind bars until her trial date.

U.S. District Judge Paul Byron’s new order reverses an order from earlier this month in California that allowed for Salman’s release. Salman had moved to California after the shooting to be closer to family. Her bond had been set for $500,000.

Salman has pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting husband Omar Mateen’s support of ISIS, as well as to obstruction of justice in the mass shooting that left 49 people dead. While some have labeled Salman a co-conspirator, others have suggested that she was another victim of Mateen’s violence and manipulation.

Prosecutors have alleged that Salman accompanied her husband on scouting trips for targets, including Disney World and the Disney Springs shopping complex. She reportedly watched Mateen leave their home with a gun and a backpack full of ammunition on the night of the attack.

Salman faces the possibility of a life sentence.
