Marvel Avengers Academy, a popular mobile game re-imagining the superhero squad as a team of students under Nick Fury, has introduced a gay hero into its lineup.

In the “British Invasion” event that unfolded over the weekend, players could recruit UK heroes Captain Britain and Union Jack to help free the Black Knight from possession by the cursed Ebony Blade.

In the course of the game, Black Widow points out that Union Jack—a.k.a. super-spy Brian Falsworth—is the first guy at the academy who hasn’t hit on her.

“No offense, but you’re not my type,” he explains.

When she asks whether he’s more into the Enchantress, he explains, “I’m telling you I’m gay.”

In the world of Marvel Comics, Brian Farnsworth was Union Jack during WWII, and was revealed to be gay and in a relationship with another hero, Dyna-Mite.

Marvel Avengers Academy is available for download from Google Play and iTunes.
