It was a dark day for Grindr fans earlier this year when the hookup app unexpectedly stopped working for a good portion of the afternoon one weekend.

On the bright side, those terrifying times not only inspired some hilarious social media posts, but also an entire short film that examines how people dealt with life off the app. (Hint: It involves meeting people in real life.)

“On January 31, 2016 the unthinkable happened…Grindr crashed for 28 hours.”

That’s how the short film begins, before launching into the reactions of gays who were devastated by the news, and how they found the strength to move forward.
