Hey L.A., this weekend’s your last chance to check out doubleheader ‘Bob Mizer & Tom of Finland’ at the MOCA Pacific Design Center. This first American exhibition devoted to the unbridled erotica of two of the granddaddies of gay culture takes a rigorous look at their photos, drawings and collage work. The exhibition was organized by curator Bennett Simpson and guest co-curator Richard Hawkins (who, incidentally, had a hand in the creation of BUTT’s splash page this month).
Tom of Finland's first cover for
Physique Pictorial, Vol. 7 No. 1, published in 1957
(with permission of Bob Mizer Foundation).
‘Bob Mizer & Tom of Finland’ at MOCA Pacific Design Center ends this Sunday, 26 January 2014. More info can be found on MOCA’s website.
