The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America
by
Erik Larson
2003

Larson tells the intertwining true tales of Daniel H. Burnham, the architect behind the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, and Dr. H. H. Holmes, the serial killer who used the fair to lure his victims to their deaths (Leonardo DiCaprio purchased the film rights to the book in 2010, and it's been reported that Martin Scorsese will direct the movie).
