 In England

Premier League Soccer
Chelsea vs. Arsenal should prove to be a hard fought match.  Arsenal won 3-0 at their last meeting. ESPN commentator David Hirshey has written "Let's face it: Arsenal show up when they feel like it, which tends to be late in the second halves of matches." Chelsea is known for playing consistently through 90 minutes.  Should be an interesting match.    Tottenham Hotspur vs. Middlesbrough.  The Tottenham Spurs host Middlesbrough on Saturday, as they look to reduce a nine-point gap on Chelsea in the standings, before making a tough trip to Liverpool next weekend.  In Italian Serie A, Bologna and Napoli play this evening.

 In International Cricket
The Sri Lanka tour of South Africa continues with their  3rd ODI: South Africa v Sri Lanka at Johannesburg. (ODI means One Day International Cricket)  South Africa has been on fire recently, while young Sri Lanka is in the for the long haul.  South Africa have out-batted, out-bowled, out-fielded Sri Lanka in the current series. Sri Lanka's best hopes may lay, as ever, in the wrists and fingers of their spinners, but they need immediate improvement to have hopes of winning.

South African player Faf du Plessis has been coming into his own, and is expected to play well in his 100th ODI today.   Sri Lanka coach Graham Ford has said "Unfortunately none of our batsmen converted starts but they certainly showed they have got the talent to play at this level and to make an impact at this level."

Figure Skating
The European Championships men's and women's free skates will be held today in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Serious contenders in today's competition include Javier Fernandez (Spain); Yevgenia Medvedeva (Russia); and Carolina Kostner (Italy).
