We’d Go To Bat For Chicago Cubs MVP Kris Bryant

Put us in, coach!
From: NewNowNext
The Chicago Cubs broke their century-plus-long streak to win the World Bowl of Super Baseball, or whatever its called.

We are so happy for them—nobody likes being uninvited to the ball for that many years. And we’re especially happy for Kris Bryant, the Cubs’ star third baseman. This 24-year-old MVP helped turn the tide with a home run in Game 5, and nabbed the final out to take Chicago to victory in Game 7.

Also, he’s cute as all get out, which is no mean feat in a baseball uniform—those things still look like they’re from 1908.

Below, a salute to Kris Bryant in photos.

Looks as good going as coming.

Kris has also launched a gig with Express Men.

Are Bryan Singer And Olympic Diver Chris Mears A Thing?

From: Queerty
The last we heard from famed X-Men producer/director Bryan Singer, he was announcing his upcoming fatherhood with best friend and Queer As Folk actress Michelle Clunie.

While we don’t have an update on Dashiell Julius William Clunie-Singer, who will be celebrating his second birthday soon (time flies), there is a potential bit of news in another area of Singer’s jet-setting life.

An Instagram photo from Singer’s account with British Olympic diver Chris Mears shows the two getting awfully chummy:

And hey, maybe “chummy” is as far as it goes with the pair, but the interwebs have taken notice of the apparent intimacy in the snapshot.

“Bryan’s hand is on Chris’s arm and it look like his other arm is laying on his leg. That’s a couple pose,” said one sleuth in a comment thread committed to the topic.

“They’ve been ‘friends’ for a while,” pointed out another amateur Sherlock, directing attention to a Twitter photo from May of the two:

Singer and Mears also attended Glee actor Matthew Morrison’s Halloween party last weekend, along with the likes of Taylor Lautner, JC Chasez and Chance Crawford.

We’ll have to leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions, but we can certainly understand Mears’ appeal:

Then again, Mears isn’t the first British diver to be spotted with Singer:

AHF’s Michael Weinstein Doubles Down On PrEP As A “Party Drug”

From: Queerty
As much as we love their Out of the Closet thrift shops, it’s probably time for the gay community to put as much space as we can between ourselves and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Their president is going seriously off the rails.

In a new interview, Michael Weinstein repeated his out-of-touch rhetoric about how we all need to be using condoms — yeah, of course condoms are effective, but saying that it should be the only acceptable method of preventing HIV transmission is about as realistic as pushing for abstinence-only sex ed.

As you’ve probably heard, his group is pretty much the only major backer behind Proposition 60, a proposed law that sounds like a good idea but in practice would likely cause a lot of damage. Not only would it require condoms for porn shoots, it also includes a provision that would force the state to hire Michael Weinstein as a sort of porn czar for California. The law’s vague wording could mean that couples could be sued for shooting condomless sex videos in their own homes. And it could expose performers’ real-life details to stalkers.

Weinstein has a long legacy of stigmatizing people with HIV, and still has negative things to say about PrEP. “It’s often taken in conjunction with crystal meth and other party drugs,” he recently told NPR’s All Things Considered. “It’s really a get-out-of-jail-free card.”

The interviewer does not ask for sources for that claim, so maybe it’s true, but given the source we doubt it.

And this is the way Weinstein and AHF always operate, whether it’s about PrEP or porn. They insist that gay men are dangerous, and that we should all be using condoms all the time — an unrealistic expectation that is out of touch with reality.

Weinstein says that he’s just looking out for the safety of porn performers — oh, but he also refuses to meet with them, because they’ve called him names. Good grief.

So, Californians, remember to get out and vote — not just for president, but also no no no, a thousand times no, on Michael Weinstein’s Prop 60.

A Fashionable Submersion: Mark by Gordon Nebeker

From: NewNowNext
'Every photographer who picks up a camera has a motivation for shooting. For some, it is creating the perfect “commercial” shot; one that will sell well. While that thought undoubtedly crosses my mind on occasion, I shoot to please myself and to learn and develop (pun intended) as a photographer. If a print sells at one of my exhibitions, that is wonderful. but the very act of creating a photograph I am pleased with is in itself the reward and is the best ‘high’ of all.'

Not having to depend on one's art for financial stability can be incredibly liberating. Without the demands of a client or campaign, an artist can focus their creative impulses to generate images and works they are passionate about. Gordon Nebeker is clearly passionate about the male form, he has also devoted a lot of energy in perfecting his underwater imagery. When Massachusetts based model Mark approached Gordon about doing a clothed underwater shoot, an interesting photo story began to visually submerge.

Initial Connections:

'I first worked with Mark back in 2009 when he was a student in college and, as he was just temporarily in the area where I was living at the time, we only had one opportunity to shoot then. I have always regretted that and was very happy when our paths crossed again here in Boston and he was still interested in doing some modeling. We did our first new shoot last year just before Christmas and we agreed to do another shoot in the Summer when our pool was open as he was eager to try some underwater work. The photos in this article are from that shoot which we did this last August.'

 Coming Together:
'In most of the shoots I do underwater, the model is nude or nude but working with a long white cloth I often used in my photography. The formula has served me well over the years but I am always willing to ‘mix it up’ a little to help keep the concept fresh. Mark wanted to do underwater work similar to what I have done before but was also quite keen to do some underwater photos where he would be fully dressed as kind of a fashion modeling concept. I agreed but threw in the caveat that he end the fashion shots with an underwater strip. And that is how this series of photographs came to be.'
Gordon

'I'm a very creative person who really enjoys doing the unexpected and challenging the normal so I'm always searching and trying to think of creative perspective on concepts. The inspiration came from a combination of a few pictures I found on Instagram, liking the lighting effect I saw in Gordon's other underwater photos, and wanting to add some fashion shots to update my portfolio. You wouldn't expect to see someone fully clothed in a formal style underwater, and the lighting brings the photo to an almost mystical place which I really like. Going into the shoot I had some ideas of how I wanted the photos to turn out, but like all shoots no matter how much you plan and calculate there are elements you don't account for and things get captured naturally and the concept develops as the shoot goes on, but it allows for a more organic photo and a lot of the time I end up liking those photos more than the outcome I had in my head before the shoot.'

 Below the Surface:
'One of the elements of underwater photography which is most fascinating to me is how the surface of the water can act at times and angles like a camera lens, allowing one to view the world outside the pool like an impressionistic painting. At other times and angles, the surface acts as a mirror to reflect what is below the surface of the water which creates wonderful distorted and surreal images. You can see examples of both of these effects in this series and they are often my most favorite photographs when I do an underwater shoot.'
Gordon

'I have modeled underwear and body before. I enjoy all types of modeling, there has not been a style I have tried that I didn't enjoy. I really enjoy the shots that showcase the body but leave enough to the imagination of the audience for them to desire more but also enjoy the picture as a concept and not just focus on that specific area. Most of the difficulties for me come after the shoot because with any style or concept I tend to be more critical and hard on myself over small things than I need to be, such as how my looks too tense, my hair is a little messed up or wish i had done this slightly better.'
Mark

 Gordon on working with Mark:
'Mark is a real trooper! He is enthusiastic and willing to try a pose even when I can tell he is not so sure about it. Sometimes his instincts are right and those photos never see the light of day but sometimes the photos turn out better than either of us expected and that makes the risk worth taking. He is a genuinely nice guy and a pleasure to work with. It has also been nice to see him become friends with several of my models and I guess I need to start planning a group shoot!'

 Mark on working with Gordon:
'Working with Gordon is great, he is such a good person and makes you feel comfortable weather its your first time shooting with him or your tenth. I like that he is open to some of my crazy ideas and makes it more of a collaboration than just what he wants. Yes, working with Gordon now is very different than the first time I worked with him. When I first worked with Gordon I was 19 and it was a couples shoot I did with an ex. My ex set up the shoot as a surprise to me because he knew I modeled and he wanted to see what it was like ha ha. It was fun but I was caught off guard and not prepared that day, the shoot was also less fluid in my opinion because my ex had never modeled and i had to coach him.  Working with Gordon now, we have developed an understanding of how the other works. I know I can move and transition and and Gordon will capture a great shot without me having to go pose to pose. Working with him is just very organic and I think it shows in our photos.'

“Daily Mail” Attacks Judge For Being — Gasp! — “Openly Gay”

From: Queerty
Oh, lord — what year is this again? A self-described newspaper in England has set everyone’s eyes rolling by attempting to stir up controversy by accusing a judge of being “openly gay.” Yes, and?

The real reason for the Daily Mail’s pearl-clutching is that they’re trying to stir up more racist and homophobic Brexit propaganda. There was recently a little legal tussle over exactly how England could leave the EU, and three judges ruled that England couldn’t just pick up and leave.

That didn’t sit well with publications like the Daily Mail, and they launched an attack on the three judges. One of them is an expert in European law, another oversaw expensive cases, and the third, they reveal, is “an openly gay ex-Olympic fencer.”

That actually sounds pretty great.

The Daily Mail has a long history of homophobia — you might remember during the Olympics when they made fun of divers for hugging.

After being roundly criticized on Twitter, the newspaper dropped almost all mention of the gay judge, sweeping their stupid headline under the rug in the hopes of saving what little face they have left. But the humiliation of the people involved will never fully wash away.

‘Drag Race’ Judge Lucian Piane Attacks the Obamas, Implies Clintons Are Murderers in Latest Tweet Storm

From: Towleroad
RuPaul’s Drag Race judge and music producer Lucian Piane is again sounding off on Twitter about the 2016 election.

In a series of tweets sent over the past 24 hours, Piane called Michelle Obama an “idiot”, called President Obama campaigning for Hillary “an atrocious abuse of power”, used Trumpian syntax to label Hillary supporter and actress Laura Benanti as “lost” and a “loser”, implied that the Clintons have murdered people and threatened Bernie Sanders and his family, said that Hillary Clinton has Parkinson’s, and called on “the gays…to unite to help take down the Clinton Pedophilia Foundation.”

On Instagram, Piane said the Obamas are corrupt.

Piane also said he would be voting for Bernie Sanders in the general election next Tuesday, presumably writing in his name given that he is not on the ballot.

Piane went on to defend Susan Sarandon who recently announced she would be voting for Jill Stein.

Piane previously drew the internet’s ire when he suggested that LGBT issues should not be a deciding factor in this election.

Neither RuPaul nor Logo (the network that airs Drag Race) have commented on Piane’s statements.

Read some more of Piane’s latest anti-Hillary tweets, complete with conspiracy theories, which he says are not theories but truth, below.
