Mark MacKillop
I met Instagratification veteran Mark a few years ago, when a Speedo he was wearing was auctioned off for AIDS. We do shit like that in New York.
Ginge festival |
Anyway, I gallantly bid on his swimwear and then gifted him with it. We hung out briefly (no, I'm not attempting to imply that we dated) and recently re-started our activity-buddydom with a trip to see a play so far east I felt like I needed a passport.
It was worth scaling Trump's wall to get there.
Rumor has it that Mark is not a virgin. |
MacKillop is an actor and gifted dancer who has captured the interest of the Internet with his endless supply of iPhone selfies in his underwear, some of which are available for purchase in his fine-arts book.
He has an old-school man's body, in which resides a young-school alpha gay (in the best possible way)—he's sharp-tongued, has a highly developed sense of aesthetics and does not suffer fools, gladly or otherwise. Look for him to continue his relentless takeover of NYC. After all, the Broadway Bares staple has already performed multiple one-man shows, including a winner at 54 Below..

It was predictable that after the initial barrage of sympathy based posts about Cecil's murder, the next step would be people attempting to buck the trend and be above it. Those are the people who felt the need to belittle the empathy some had for this glorious animal by making ironic comments pushing the theme that we give more attention to this animal than we do to human lives. They don't get it...
Cecil is a symbol, and great one at that. Yes, there may be some who are cold to human suffering, but the majority of us are more drained than cold. The media today, both news and entertainment, shove human atrocities down our throats at a lightening fast speed and with damaging frequency. There is literally no where to turn on TV, in movies, in newspapers without hearing, reading and seeing graphic accounts of rape, murder, mass shootings, human suffering, unspeakable violence and degradation in the name of war or Religion.
After 911, the outpouring of care, support and assistance was both powerful and at it's core natural. People from other states, other countries drove, and flew when they could to New York to offer what little assistance they could. The people of Charleston came together recently in a forceful demonstration of both grief, support and defiance refusing to let a wackjob deter their faith. There is not a day that I don't hear about a missing person or family having lost everything in a fire when the follow-up is about a town or a group of people coming together to help.
We are not cold to human suffering, we have just had to buffer what we let in. It is essential to our survival that we don't let every human tragedy we see chip away at our core. After Charleston, after 911, my grief and despair for the lives lost crept into every corner of my existence, especially into my nightmares. Being angry about Cecil is safe. We can wrap our heads around a wealthy white American going to Africa and butchering a beautiful animal. We don't like it, but we can understand, and be angry about it.
The senseless mass murders in a church or movie theatre are harder to wrap our heads around, maybe because in those cases there is never really any acceptable answers. With Cecil there is an answer within our control, charge the person responsible. Our outpouring of grief for this lion is not wrong, it is completely understandable. What would be scary is if the human race ad had reached a point where they couldn't even handle expressing grief about the death of an animal so far away. So for all of those who decided to make those who cared feel wrong, feel guilty, feel some how our caring is misplaced... I again say, you don't get it.

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan Dead at 94
From: NBC News
Nancy Reagan, one of the most high-profile and influential first ladies of the 20th century, has died. She was 94.
The cause of death was congestive heart failure, according to her rep Joanne Drake, a spokeswoman with the Reagan Library.
"Mrs. Reagan will be buried at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, next to her husband, Ronald Wilson Reagan, who died on June 5, 2004," Drake wrote in a statement.
"Prior to the funeral service, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to pay their respects at the Library."
"It is a very sad day," former Ronald Reagan Chief of Staff Ken Duberstein told NBC News. "Every time she was in the room, he was better, and every time he was in the room she was better. She brought a sense of class and dignity and elegance that everybody admired."
Her step-son Michael Reagan posted on Facebook: "She is once again with the man she loved. God Bless."
Barbara Bush, another influential former first lady, said in a statement: "Nancy Reagan was totally devoted to President Reagan, and we take comfort that they will be reunited once more. George and I send our prayers and condolences to her family."
Reagan was also a Girl Scout and named honorary president of the Girl Scouts as first lady. The Girl Scouts of America said in a statement that Reagan would be remembered for her "courage, confidence and character."
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Reagan asked that contributions be made to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Foundation at www.reaganlibrary.com, Drake said.
I am saddened by the passing of my step mother Nancy Reagan...She is once again with the man she loved.God Bless......Posted by Michael Reagan on Sunday, March 6, 2016
Nancy Reagan was born in New York City and when she was six her mother, Edith, a stage actress, married Dr. Loyal Davis, a neurosurgeon. The doctor adopted Nancy and she grew up in Chicago. She later attended Smith College in Massachusetts, where she majored in theater.
Reagan was an actress when she met Ronald Reagan in the early 1950s, then an actor and president of the Screen Actors Guild, according to a White House bio.
She needed to talk to him because her name had been wrongly included on a published list of suspected communist sympathizers. They discussed it over dinner, and she later wrote that she realized on that first blind date "he was everything that I wanted."
They wed on March 4, 1952. Daughter Patti was born in October of that year and son Ron followed in 1958. Reagan already had a daughter, Maureen, and an adopted son, Michael, from his marriage to actress Jane Wyman.
Their marriage lasted 52 years, until Ronald Reagan's death in 2004.
While Ronald Reagan was governor of California from 1967 to 1975, Nancy Reagan worked with numerous charitable groups, and spent hours visiting veterans, the elderly, and the emotionally and physically handicapped.
"The movies were custard compared to politics," Mrs. Reagan once said.
When her husband became president of the United States, First Lady Reagan continued her interest in these groups continued, and arguably became best known for her "Just Say No" program fighting against drug abuse among youth.
When Ronald was shot in 1981 by a would-be assassin, Nancy rushed to his side immediately, and later endured his nearly decade-long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
In recent years she broke with fellow Republicans in backing stem cell research as a way to possibly find a cure for Alzheimer's.
In announcing his Alzheimer's diagnosis in 1994, Reagan wrote, "I only wish there was some way I could spare Nancy from this painful experience."
Ten years later, as his body lay in state in the U.S. Capitol, Mrs. Reagan caressed and gently kissed the flag-draped casket.
"Nancy and Ronald Reagan were one of the great love stories of the American presidency," said Craig Shirley, Ronald Reagan biographer and presidential historian. "During the 1980 campaign, Governor Reagan was asked if Nancy Reagan would have a cause if he won and he joked, 'Probably me, mostly.'"

I saved the image above after finding it on a teen idol tumblr a year or so ago. I didn't recognize the actor but was taken with his sexy California look, and the teasing pose and waist line. A quick google image search told me it was actor Jeb Adams, a teen idol and television actor from the 70's and 80's known primarily I think for his role along side Robert Conrad in the 70's series Baa Baa Black Sheep.
Adams went on to guest star on many 70's and 80's TV shows and had small roles in The Goonies and Once Bitten. I was most interested in checking out his performance in the 1987 adaptation of the V.C. Andrews novel, Flowers In The Attic. I saw bits of the recent remake, but this one also stared Oscar winner Louis Fletcher so was interested in taking a look. I have not watched the flick yet, just skimmed to make a few caps, but Jeb certainly brings a bit of light to that old attic.

There is something about Sia's Chandelier that makes it pretty much a perfect power ballad for a talented male singer. On last year's US version of The Voice, Jordan Smith sang a version I thought was incredible. On this season's UK version of the show, former Liberty X pop singer Kevin Simm took the song and blew it out of the park. Kevin's voice hits delicious notes in my body, and in my soul.
