"I never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back."

Socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor, famous for her larger-than-life personality and multiple marriages, has died at age 99, her publicist confirmed. She passed away from a heart attack at her home Sunday afternoon.

Though Gabor appeared in several movies and TV shows in her lifetime, she most famous as a “personality,” helping to pave the way for today’s celebutantes and social media stars.

Gabor cultivated the image of a blond gold digger who was more interested in gems than love. “I never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back,” she once japed.

There were nine marriages in all, including unions with hotel magnate Conrad Hilton (Paris Hilton’s grandfather) and Oscar-winning actor George Sanders, who later married her sister Magda.

Zsa-Zsa outlived both Magda, who died in 1997, and their sister, Eva, who starred on Green Acres in the 1960s, and who passed away in 1995.

Decades before the ascension of her step-granddaughter and Kim Kardashian, Zsa-Zsa Gabor was famous for being famous rather than for any artistic accomplishments.

Born Sari Gabor to wealthy parents in Budapest, she was thrust into the limelight by her mother, Jolie, who pushed her to compete in the Miss Hungary pageant. When WWII broke out, Jolie took her daughters and emigrated to the States.

Gabor’s biggest acting roles included 1953’s Lili and 1958’s Touch of Evil. (That same year she starred in the campy Queen of Outer Space.) Her fame sometimes dipped into infamy, like when she was arrested for slapping a highway officer in 1989.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt.
