These things. All of these things happened to people of color the day after Trump won the presidential election. Welcome to America in 2016. I’d say you may not recognize it, but for so many of our brothers and sisters, they sadly do; they’ve seen it every day of their lives.
Get mad. Be angry. But be determined to change the country’s direction. Be resolved to do your part to end racism and xenophobia. Be intent on becoming the change you want to see because it all starts with us.
The majority of Americans rejected bigotry and hatred at the ballot box. They are on our side. We will overcome – but until then we need to provide support and love and help to those who will take the brunt of this political whitelash.
