Mother Of Pulse Victim Appears In HRC Video For Hillary Clinton

"Vote for the future that you would want Christopher to have."

When we first encountered Christine Leinonen, it was under the worst circumstances imaginable.

In a heart wrenching interview with ABC News the morning after the Pulse Nightclub massacre in Orlando, she spoke with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos about her son, Christopher, who was among those missing and presumed dead.

Christopher was her only child, an advocate for the LGBT community who had formed a gay-straight alliance and won a humanitarian award at his high school. Choking with tears, she called for a ban on assault rifles and an end to the epidemic of violence plaguing America.

Leinonen, who later spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, is appearing in a new campaign ad from HRC in support of Hillary Clinton. In it, she discusses how Christopher was a Clinton supporter because “she wants to bring everybody to the table,” and hopes anyone who considers themselves an ally feels the same.

“If you love a gay person, if you know someone who is gay and you really truly love them, I don’t know how you could justify a vote for Donald Trump.”

It’s the latest in a series of spots from HRC, including one from Pulse survivor Ricardo Negron-Almodova, Judy and Dennis Shepard and TK and Lennie Gerber and Pearl Berlin, a North Carolina couple that’s been together for 50 years.

“Who am I voting for?!?” asks a bemused Berlin in their spot. “Why would you even ask?”
