During filming of the sixth season of The Apprentice, Donald Trump allegedly questioned a gay contestant’s sexuality by refusing to believe that his daughter Ivanka did “nothing” for him.
Fellow contestant Jenn Hoffman wrote about the uncomfortable exchange between Trump and Derek Arteta for Esquire, saying it occurred at their first dinner with the real estate tycoon.
“During our initial…dinner, our host had been shocked upon learning that Derek was gay,” she began. “’So you’re not attracted to my daughter?’ he asked disbelievingly. ’So Ivanka does nothing for you?'
This isn’t the first time Trump has made headlines for awkwardly commenting on his daughter’s beauty.
In a 2004 interview with Howard Stern, the presidential nominee referred to his daughter as a “piece of ass.” Two years later, he appeared on The View and suggested that if Ivanka weren’t his daughter, the two would very likely be dating.
Hoffman added that Ivanka wasn’t even present at the dinner, but that his wife Melania was.
“With his beautiful wife one seat away, he held up his daughter as the standard bearer of hotness to test for gayness in men,” she concluded.
