British soap opera Coronation Street has created a show full of diverse characters that represent the real world, but a recent scene featuring a kiss between two men was a little too real for a few homophobic fans of the show.
The scene, which featured actors Daniel Brocklebank and Bruno Langley embracing on a hotel bed before sharing a passionate kiss, was called “sickening” and “appalling” by viewers who felt it was too racy to air before 9 pm.

“Are you going to send me a cleaner to mop up the sick from my carpet!” tweeted one dramatic fan. “Gay scenes way too much info.”
Yes, someone who is “all for gay pride” wrote, in all seriousness, “Think of the children.”
Not all of the comments were bad, however, with some people reminding the angry mob that the soap was created by a gay man in the first place.
Not only that, but Bruno Langley’s character has been openly gay since 2003, which means loyal fans have already watched over 13 years of his gay story line.
“We approach the portrayal of homosexual relationships in the same way as heterosexual relationships, and we carefully consider all scenes in our soaps, and their suitability for pre-watershed audiences,” a spokesperson for the series’ network, ITV, told MailOnline.
“We do not believe that the content of last night’s episode was inappropriately scheduled, or exceeded generally accepted standards for content broadcast at this time,” the spokesperson added.
Brocklebank also clapped back at the homophobic crowd’s complaints that their children saw the gay kiss, saying, “I’m disgusted they left it up to TV to teach their kids how love works.”
