A Zumba instructor who was shot several times during the Orlando massacre earlier this summer has taken the stage to dance for the first time since the horrific attack.

Angel Colon appeared in front of 7,500 other Zumba teachers at the Zumba Fitness Instructor Convention last week to thank the crowd for their support and to perform for the first time since being able to walk again.

The inspirational instructor danced to “Love Makes the World Go Round” by Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda, a song the duo recorded last month as a tribute to the victims of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy.

“The atmosphere here is so positive that you have to be smiling and I can’t even count the number of hugs I’ve received,” Colon told The Huffington Post about his time at the convention. “This experience has been amazing and I am honored to feel so much love from the Zumba instructor community. They are like family.”

The night also served as a memorial for Angel Luis Candelario-Padro, a fellow Zumba instructor who was one of the 49 people who lost their lives in the massacre.

During an emotional speech from Colon before the performance began, he was reunited on stage with Officer Omar Delgado, the man responsible for pulling Colon to safety on the night of the attack.

The poignant moment was captured on video and you can watch it below.
