Trump Defies Queen, Insults LGBT Community, By Using “We Are The Champions” At GOP Convention

From: NewNowNext
Donald Trump came on stage Monday night at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland to the sound of Queen’s “We Are The Champions,” angering Queen guitarist Brian May and outraging member of the LGBT community.

Back in June, when the Trump campaign began using the song as an anthem, May insisted permission “was neither sought nor given.”

He added that the band never allowed political groups to use their music, and told fans “will make sure we take what steps we can to dissociate ourselves from Donald Trump’s unsavory campaign.”

Of course, the choice is even more galling considering Queen front man Freddie Mercury was a gay man who died of AIDS. The current Republican platform is the most anti-LGBT in the party’s history—and that’s saying something.

It opposes same-sex marriage and adoption, and endorses both odious “bathroom bills” and debunked conversion therapy.

Twitter lit up like a firecracker after the song was heard.
