Investigators Believe Bastille Day Terrorist Was Bisexual

Police confirmed Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel kept videos of his sexual conquests.

The man who drove a truck into a crowd in Nice last Thursday, killing 84 people, was reportedly bisexual.

Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, 31, was praised as a “soldier of Islam” by ISIS after he was killed by police following the deadly attack. Bouhlel didn’t reveal his motive before dying, but he left behind a trove of personal information on his cellphone.

According to Newsweek, investigators found images and videos on the divorced father of three’s phone depicting an active sex life, as well as dating apps used to meet both men and women.

An unnamed 73-year-old man was reportedly identified as Bouhlel’s “principal lover.”

France’s BFM-TV claims the graphic images show Bouhlel “sleeping with his sexual conquests,” drinking heavily, and taking drugs—all forbidden by Islam.

His reported bisexuality concerned members of the LGBT community, as similar reports surfaced about Pulse attacker Omar Mateen and Salah Abdeslam, who helped carry out the coordinated attack on Paris last year.

Though Bouhlel only began attending mosque in April, authorities say he’d been radicalized by ISIS propaganda.

But his neighbors told The Local that the Tunisian national had more of a “psychiatric problem” than a “radicalization issue.”

Bouhlel’s family also confirmed he had an extensive history of psychiatric issues, including a “nervous breakdown” between 2002 and 2004.

It’s also unclear if others were involved in the attack. In a text message on his phone, Bouhlel reportedly asked another person to “bring more weapons.” Officials are still trying to determine the legitimacy of his ties to ISIS.
