Drag Queen Takes Over Manchester Airport For “Rocky Horror” Performance

"What a way to start your holiday!"

Travelers checking in at England’s Manchester Airport were treated to a spectacular sight this week, when drag artist Danny Beard marched into the room in full daytime fish to perform a medley of hits in honor of Manchester Pride.

Beard, a former Britain’s Got Talent finalist, is seen in a Facebook Live video prancing around the terminal with a microphone and singing live to “Sweet Transvestite” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and RuPaul’s “Sissy That Walk” while interacting with bystanders.

“What a way to start your holiday!” said Manchester Pride CEO Mark Fletcher. “This is definitely one of the most fun gigs we’ve ever curated. Big thanks to Danny – the passengers loved his performance.”
According to Gay Times, the 15-minute performance was planned in coordination with Manchester Airport and the Thomas Cook travel company to promote their sponsorship of Manchester Pride and The Big Weekend, an LGBT music festival with acts including Beard himself, Imani Williams, Heather Small, Fleur East, and Will Young.

The Big Weekend will take place in Manchester city centre August 26-29.

“Nothing like this has been done before so we’re really pleased to give such a cool surprise to our customers and launch our second Manchester Pride summer in a row,” Ben Todd, Head of Communications for Thomas Cook Airlines, told Gay Times.

He added: “We can’t wait for The Big Weekend, it’s going to be an amazing show and an awesome party and we expect our message of being an LGBT-friendly airline offering the most US destinations direct from Manchester Airport, will really shine through.”
