RuPaul stopped by Access Hollywood and discussed the tragic mass shooting in Orlando this weekend.

“Every American who believes in what this country stands for is shaken to the core,” said the Drag Race host. “And it really does have to stop. A collective shift in our consciousness has to happen.”

“The American people have some real soul searching to do,” he added. “I’ve been really numbed by this on so many different levels. Not only as an American, but as a human being, to see that we’re still in that place.”

Many Drag Race contestants had performed at Pulse, and extended their support and condolences on social media.

Several had a close connection to the club: Roxxxy Andrews got her start there, and Kenya Michaels was actually at Pulse the night of the shooting. (She escaped unharmed.) Jade Sotomayor lost her cousin, Eddie, in the attack.
