Ronan Farrow returned to NBC’s Today this morning in the latest installment of his Undercovered reporting series, this time investigating what it’s like being a transgender college student.
Last year Farrow interviewed Eve, a transgender Notre Dame student about living as a transgender teen in the age of Caitlyn Jenner and transgender rights making national news.
Now Farrow has reunited with Eve to follow up on her life as a transgender person in an all-male dorm, and using the bathroom she feels most comfortable in.
“I am safer using a women’s restroom than a men’s restroom. People don’t even consider the safety of the individual,” Eve told Farrow during the segment.
“All they want to do is use the bathroom. They are probably more uncomfortable than the other person,” said Eve’s mother, who was also interviewed by Farrow.
Notre Dame declined to comment, but Eve believes that the school thinks that this will be a one-time situation. “I expect the university is hoping as soon as I leave, no one will ever try this again.”

Eve repeatedly asked Notre Dame to be moved to an all-female dorm, but after hearing nothing she moved to off-campus housing, which she told Farrow has helped “her be able to be herself.”
Eve’s mother hopes that Eve “can be whoever she wants to be without the fear of being judged. Be happy, be strong, be tough. You’re better than they are. You can do it.”
