“Matilda” Star Mara Wilson Inspired By Orlando Tragedy To Come Out As “Bi/Queer”

Mara Wilson, the child star from films like Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda, recently opened up about her sexuality on Twitter, and was inspired by the Orlando massacre to do it.

Saddened by the tragic attack that took place at Pulse nightclub on Sunday, the 28-year-old first posted a throwback photo of herself at a gay club from when she was 18, saying, “I have never had a better experience at a club than I did then.”

“The LGBTQ community has always felt like home, especially a few years later when I, uh, learned something about myself,” she tweeted.

Fans naturally wanted her to elaborate, so she explained that she feels she’s “a 2” on the Kinsey scale, which is considered ““predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual” by the Kinsey Institute.

“I know a lot of people don’t like the Kinsey scale, and that is fine by me,” she added. “But I’m pragmatic at heart and find comfort in numbers.”

Finally, after she was criticized for still being too vague, she tweeted, “I’ve embraced the Bi/Queer label lately.”

She concluded by thanking her fans for their support, but said she would continue to be private about her relationships in the future.

Once news of her outing began to spread, she returned to Twitter to make two more important comments.
