A (Completely Insane) Director Told Scott Speedman To Put His Shirt Back On

This is unconscionable.

 Scott Speedman dropped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to discuss his upcoming TNT crime drama Animal Kingdom, and the 40-year-old actor relayed a sad and tragic tale from the set.

After his years on Felicity and the Underworld film series, Speedman was pretty used to shirtless scenes—even though they made him ansty.

 “For years I was nervous about doing shirtless scenes,” he revealed. “I was like ’why would I take my shirt off in that scene?’ I’d be in bed with a woman and be like ’give me a sweater'”

 So he assumed his new series would have the same amount of requisite shirtlessness, even though he was a tad older than his male co-stars.

“I finally had to do my first shirtless scene [on Animal Kingdom] and I was going to commit to it,” Speedman tells Colbert. “We start doing the scene and the moment comes and I take it off. We finish… and the director comes over and says ’Great job. We’re going to do it again. Keep the shirt on in this one.'”

Ouch.

Thankfully, Speedman was able to laugh it off, and viewers do get to see him shirtless on the show.

But we still think that director needs to have his head examined.

Animal Kingdom premieres June 14 at 9pm on TNT.
