A Memorial Day Weekend Reminder From Artist Hanksy

From: Accidental Bear
Street artist Hanksy has been killing it this year artistically and politically

Hanks has reminded us the unflattering truth about Memorial Day Weekend with new pieces that he pasted up around Manhattan.

The four pieces are a little darker than his typical work—he explained to us this morning: “At 19 my grandfather was liberating France during World War II. While at the same age my largest concern was figuring out how to sneak beer into my college dorm. I’m not a fan of war, but I respect those who have served. Willingly or not. These posters are just a small reminder that in-between your long weekend beach selfies and third bottle of rosé, you should acknowledge the real reason everyone has the day off.”

The pieces are still up and you’ll find them on the LES and in Chinatown.
