The library is open, hunties, and Merriam-Webster dictionary has just added more than 1,400 new words and phrases.

Noteworthy additions include “cisgender” and “genderqueer”—reflecting increased awareness of the diversity of gender identities—and “trigger warning,” a caution put on content that may cause distress or anxiety, often in oppressed minorities.

The gender-neutral honorific “Mx,” popularized by Justin Bond, has also been added.

Other less weighty new words include “TMI,” “meet cute,” “hella” and “FOMO” (Fear of Missing Out).
