“Ti Amo”
Laura Branigan

Longtime readers know that the late Laura is my 2nd all-time favorite singer, and 1984 would be the peak of her career. Her album Self Control went platinum and would yield three chart singles. The title track, which was a worldwide smash, “The Lucky One,” which would be her last top 20 hit (and was featured on the first Lost Hits list), and “Ti Amo,” which she would take to #55 in December.

It was a remake of a 1977 song by Italian singer Umberto Tozzi (who also gave Laura “Gloria”), with English lyrics by Diane Warren (who also wrote English lyrics for Laura’s top ten hit “Solitaire”).
