Manfred Mann’s Earth Band

British group Manfred Mann’s Earth Band (fronted by South African musician Manfred Mann) are of course best known for their #1 cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Blinded By The Light,” but they would only hit the top 40 twice more.

With “Spirits In The Night” (another Bruce cover) which hit #40, and “Runner,” which would be their final chart entry, peaking at #22 in March 1984. I remember the video well, and how even at a young age the runner made me feel … tingly.
