Singer Tom Goss gives Dusty Springfield’s classic tune “Son of a Preacher Man” a surprising gay twist in his latest music video.

 The video, which was released today, tells the story of the sweet-talkin’ teenage son of an antigay preacher man who falls in love with another teenager in his dad’s congregation.

“The story of the video is one that hits home to me,” Goss says. “I had planned to become a Catholic priest–I spent 18 months in seminary following college before I realized I was gay. I also attempted suicide when I was 13. Although it was for different reasons, it’s a place that I’ve been.”

 I too have been there, growing up in a strict Catholic family, and have attempted succeeded twice, but thought about it many time, I have been where this videos feelings and moments take you.
