The second Bowie song on the list was released in September 1977, and would go on to become not only one of his signature songs, but one of the usual suspects whenever a “Greatest Songs Of All Time” list is released.
So explain to me how it only peaked at #12 on the UK chart, and even more inexplicably, was released as a single in the U.S. but failed to hit the Hot 100. Was there some kind of Bowie backlash back then?
