February 14th is Batman Sticker Day

The holiday's originators plastered their school hallways with Batman stickers—a D.I.Y. dispersion of dark yang to Valentine's Day's shiny, tinted yin. All the culprits were eventually apprehended, sent to the office, and forced to remove the stickers. But the holiday lives on! In over a decade of Batman Sticker Day celebrations, festivities and customs have expanded to include Batman cookies, cupcakes, greeting cards, and art—pretty much anything and everything that exudes Batman-y goodness (justice included)—and all with a twist of D.I.Y. gumption.

Batman Sticker Day has proven to be a great alternative to Valentine's Day and an excellent complement to it! For those who aren't in a love situation, Valentine's Day can range from, well, meaningless, to angering, or excruciating. Thankfully, Batman Sticker Day works sans romance, as it happens to feature a lot of dark clothing, lurking in shadows, and ass-kicking!
