February 12th is Oglethorpe Day

Oglethorpe Day honors the British General James Edward Oglethorpe who landed near what is now known as Savannah, GA on February 12th, 1733. He named the colony Georgia in honor of England's King George II. He served as the first governor of the new colony and was Savannah's founder.
