Kim Davis (and Mike Huckabee)
Despite her three divorces, Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis anointed herself the moral authority on marriage and love when she refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, defying a U.S. Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriages nationwide.
Davis decided to cease issuing marriage licenses to all couples in order to prevent same-sex couples from marrying.
She was subsequently arrested and later hailed as a martyr by GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who paraded the lawbreaker outside the jail to a large crowd of her supporters. Oh yeah, the pope also met with her. Davis is still the county clerk of Rowan County.
