GOLD. A BLESSING AND A CURSE. MANY HAVE DIED TRYING TO FIND IT. FEW HAVE SUCCEEDED. HISTORY KNOWS LEGENDS THAT ARE BASED ON GOLD. IT IS WITHOUT DOUBT ONE OF THE MOST DESIRED NOBLE METALS AND MANY BATTLES HAVE BEEN FOUGHT OVER IT. A SYMBOL OF WEALTH AND PROSPERITY AND CAUSE FOR ENVY. AND IT IS NOT SO STRANGE CONSIDERING IT IS THE NUMBER 3 MOST VALUABLE METAL, AND, WITH ITS SOFT YELLOW BRILLIANCE, PROBABLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL.
Gold is one of the oldest desirable noble metals. Already in the 4th millennium BC people admired and appreciated gold, used it to make the most beautiful objects. Jewelry. Statues. Drinking cups. Coins. Valuables that gave the owner status and wealth and separated the rich from the poor. And even today, when we know of other, more rare metals such as rhodium and platinum, gold remains one of the most wanted and beloved noble metals and a popular investment option.
Although photography came to him on a whim - or more precisely, from a school project – it developed itself into exactly what fulfills him and what gives him joy. Igor, the man who goes behind the name IMWPhotography wants to photograph people and give them expression. Born in Brazil and raised in Germany he started photography about 7 years ago by the end of high school and it stuck. He loves the male form and an aesthetic body which is why he only works with male models. Mostly because he adores to show guys from another side. That is pretty much all the information one can find about this most talented photographer, and that makes him a rare jewel. Almost as rare as gold.
"I've always been fascinated and inspired by beautiful and distinctive people,"Igor comments on his work. "Once I encounter such people, movies start to run in my head with images that I want to capture with them. The best recognition for me is when people I have photographed, are seen in retrospect, even from a different perspective." The perspective he took photographing Timothy is a beautiful example of that. Timothy Dansie is Australian by origin but lives currently in Sweden. Which gives him of course the unique opportunity to discover Europe. And it was on one of his travels last summer that he encountered Igor. "I was fortunate enough to be in one of his stops to work with him," the IMWPhotography artist recalls. "He is a great fun with an amazing body and a gorgeous smile. A really cute nerdy kinda guy but in front of the camera he transforms in a great hot beauty."
Many cultures have been lured by the beauty and power that gold represents. From Europe to Africa and Asia to the Americas, gold has been a topic that has inspired many stories to be told dating back to ancient times. Think about Jason and the Golden Fleece. King Midas and the Golden Touch. El Dorado, the legendary city of gold. And of course the famous pot of gold to be found at the end of the rainbow. Currently the largest gold producing countries are South Africa, the United States, China and Australia. So could it be a coincident that Igor saw gold in Timothy, the golden by from Australia?
