BEAUTIFULMAG #203 WEEK 45-46 | CHOICES

From: Beautiful Mag
EDITOR’S LETTER

A member of the family passed away recently. Another one lost is job at an age which probably isn’t going to be not easy for him to find another one. And a couple of close friends whom I thought would last forever found themselves in a crisis that very well might end their relationship. All that in the timespan of two weeks. No world changing events, but it does make one wonder. The things in life we take for granted, they simply don’t last forever. Something we tend to forget when we go on living our lives day to day.

When you live our life, day after day, do you sometimes stand still and think how everything can change? In the blink of an eye. How a small event can escalate in a life changing situation? I bet you don’t. And why would you. There are enough things do deal with on a daily base. Other things that demand your attention. But maybe you should. Maybe we should all train ourselves to take a little time, every day, to consider what is really important. Because when everything comes down you realize you only live once. This is it. We have to make the best of it because we won’t get another chance. Your work, is it really what you want to do. What gives you satisfaction? Your family and friends. Your partner. Do you give them enough attention and do you fight for them when it’s needed? How can you make things better, every day a little. Not take what you have for granted but ensure it will still be there in your future. It are not the changes life offers us but what we do with it that can make the difference between happiness and sadness.

For me the past two weeks have been intense. Dealing with death. Being their for family and friends in time they need it the most. Those are moments that matter. It makes everything else so small. Don’t get me wrong. What we do, our jobs, living our lives, it is important. But the smaller things such as caring, understanding, reaching out… the smaller things that are actually not so small, those are important as well. And often overlooked until it is too late. We only have one life and we have the choice to make it a good one. All you have to do is care.
