Phyllis Nelson hit the U.S. chart once, with the dance hit “I Like You,” which peaked at #61 on the Hot 100, and #1 on the dance chart. Sadly, she passed away of breast cancer in 1998.



“I Like You” was her only success in the U.S., but in the UK, it barely made a dent. Her single “Move Closer,” however, flopped in the U.S, not even charting, but was an enormous #1 smash in the UK.




So yesterday I mentioned that the song at #94, Gavin Christopher’s “One Step Closer,” was also performed by Marilyn Martin on her debut album. Guess what?
