BEAUTIFULMAG #202 WEEK 43-44 | LIFE'S A DANCE

I have been following Madonna’s latest venture with great interest. Her album of course, of which the opinions are divided, as it always is when it comes to Madonna. But mostly her Rebel Heart Tour. Though the concert is spectacular, there seems to be nothing that she hasn’t done before. She has re-invented herself once again. I know it sounds contradicting. There are themes, accompanied with the necessary background and costume changes.  There are new songs, obviously, and old songs as she has a huge repertoire to choose from. And as usual the oldies are packed in a new setting and sound. No, what really got my attention is that for the first time in a long while Madonna seems to be really happy. She shines, she smiles, she performs effortless. She stands center stage as the star she is and radiates a happiness she hasn’t done during her last few world tours.

Life is like a roller coaster and it takes us on its ride. We think we are in absolute control of what we do, but we couldn’t be further from the truth. We experience ups and downs, highs and lows, and there is nothing we can do about it. Real strength lies in turning the lows in highs. Not an easy task but something we all experience. Life wouldn’t be the same if we wouldn’t because it is those experiences that make us who we are. That builds strength. There doesn’t seem to be one moment in life where you can just sit back and relax and let things pass by. No matter your social status, no matter your financial worth, life needs to be taken by horns. Madonna is a good example. After all she did, trying to steer life and fate her way, trying to be in control of everything she does, she has had her ups and downs. Everybody encounters sadness. Whether it is illness, the passing of someone loved or a break up., loosing a job or that moment when you realize the dream you dreamt isn’t going to happen. Everybody gets his own share and it doesn’t matter how well you are provided for, when it comes your way it is as bad as something else is for someone else. You can’t compare.

I have been, more or less, following Madonna’s career and how it entwines with her personal life since the beginning. It is interesting to see how she changed but never strayed from her believes and convictions. It seems she has been going through a rough patch for some time, and it seems she has come out of it. She seems happier than ever and shares that with her audience. She has taken life by its horns, pretty much literally, and tried to steer it her way. Yes she is an entertainer – and a good one at it as well – so how sincere are her public performances. It doesn’t matter, she simply shows all of us that no matter what comes your way, its worth fighting for the things that make you happy. It is worth looking forward even if you hit a wall and can’t see what lies ahead. Because that is the dance of life. Just let it lead you. Better times are always just around the corner.
