Kim Davis: Denying Civil Rights to Gays ‘Has Never Been a Gay or Lesbian Issue for Me’

From: Towleroad
ABC News has released more snippets of correspondent Paula Faris’ interview with anti-gay Rowan County, Kentucky clerk Kim Davis in which Davis continues to defend her decision not to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples following the Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing same-sex marriage earlier this year.

Portions of the interview were first shown on Good Morning America. ABC then debuted additional footage on its daytime talk show The View on which Faris appeared to talk about the interview. Said Faris of Davis: “You have to at least admire that she is under a huge amount of scrutiny, and you know what? She hasn’t repaid evil with evil. That’s all I’m saying.”

One additional segment was also aired on Nightline.

In the new videos, Davis says that though she has already denied marriage licenses to her gay friends she would also deny marriage licenses to her children or grandchildren if they were gay. Davis insists her actions have not been discriminatory because she “didn’t issue license to anybody [sic].” She added, “This whole situation has never been a gay or lesbian issue for me…it’s all about upholding the word of God.”

Ever defiant, Davis said that the backlash against her doesn’t bother her: “What people say about me does not define who I am.” Unless of course you say that God doesn’t love her.

Then she will go full Les Mis Anne Hathaway on you.
