BearSkn--Underwear for the Modern Bear

From: Buddy's Bear-Sized Gear Review

Bjorn and Jody at BearSkn have one major point to their philosophy--that all men should be comfortable in their own skin.  To that end, they have created a line of men's underwear that combine sizing to fit all men with fashion and function.

Since their launch, BearSkn has taken the world by storm, and they don't seem to be stopping anytime soon.  Flip through instagram and within a few pages, a brightly colored checkered pair of square cut trunks will be hugging the ass of a hot, bearded big boy!  Scan through your Facebook feed, and you'll come across that fantastic image of underwear clad bears on the swing set.  Tumblr is literally crawling with pics of them.  So are they really all they're cracked up to be?  Buddy, your faithful reviewer set out to find out.  With the assistance of guest model Matt Houle, we put BearSkn to the test!

I would like to start with STYLE today:  The colors are basic--Red, blue, purple, green, and black.  However, they're classic and bright!  I can't get enough of the red and the blue!  The hues are just plain VIVID!  The classic black accent lines make the colors pop, and, even though it's a small detail, the logo on the back of the waistband is just cool looking!  I've never been a fan of the urban sagging pants look, but these underwear just might change me!

If you just need to have that flannel look for the classic bear, you can opt for the backwoods button-down edition, which comes with a printed checkered design, and a functional fly.  Paul Bunyan himself would be proud to wear a pair.  Now, if we could just get him to drop those drawers!

Moving on to COMFORT, I have had quite a while to test these out.  First thing's first.  Let's get the negatives out of the way.  In this reviewer's experience, BearSkn tends to run about 1 to 1.5 sizes smaller--meaning that if you wear an XL normally, you would do well to buy an XXL for a comfy snug fit.  Additionally, the checker print does tend to take away from the smooth feeling of the outside of the trunks--however, the inside remains completely cozy.

Now on to the wonderful things these undergarments have to offer.  They're SOFT!!!  SO SOFT!  The waistband is simply a slice of heaven that encircles your waist in cottony gentleness.  No folding over under your belly.  No itchy, scratchy tag digging into your back.  Fantastic support for your boys means no painful bouncing about.  Even the leg holes are comfy.

Taking it a step further, the BearSkn folks have added a mesh panel in the crotch for ventilation.  Does it work?  Hm....  I dunno. I am a sweaty guy, so I can't say I have noticed a difference in how much I do or don't sweat.  What I can say is that it's comfortable.  I expect it will keep some folks drier, and perhaps a little less smelly. Let's face it--in the world of underwear, there's not much innovation that can happen these days.  I have to say the mesh panel is a really cool idea.

Let's talk about DURABILITY:  I have had my first pair of BearSkn for weeks now.  They've been worn and washed a number of times.  I have yet to see even a single loose thread.  Not one.  I wash them in the normal warm cycle (I know, I can hear you screaming now).  Not a single issue.  No major shrinking to report either.  What can I say?  Quality A+++

Lastly we talk about PRICE:  In anyone's world paying $20 for one pair of underwear is steep.  Paying up to $26 is even more so.  However, BearSkn does have done a set of rewards that you can earn through customer loyalty--so you don't have to stand on your head to get a pair.  Additionally, you can get a 10% discount simply by liking them on Facebook!  And if that weren't enough, buying them in quantity gives you an even greater deal!  Bearskin offers packs at a discount.  Can they be pricey?  Sure.  Are they worth it--every penny!

 Overall--4/4 stars!  Great product!
