“Part of Your World”
The Little Mermaid

How it relates: From the outside looking in, Ariel looks like she has it all. She has a great voice, whosits and whatsits galore, and is a freakin’ princess of the ocean. But, in “Part of Your World,” you learn that all those things aren’t making Ariel happy. She wants to be a part of something else. When you are in the closet, you can relate to Ariel’s longing to be a part of a world that is immensely different than the one she’s living in. You can relate to the idea that there is freedom in that world.
Takeaway lyric:
“Up where they walk
 Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wandering free
Wish I could be, part of that world”
