The 20 Worst Songs Of The 70′s and 80′s!

“Girls Are More Fun”
Ray Parker Jr.

“Girls Are More Fun” was a typically shitty song from Ray Parker Jr, and was his last appearance in the Top 40, peaking at a paltry #34 in December 1985. Known for ripping off other artists (he settled out of court with Huey Lewis over the “Ghostbusters/I Want A New Drug” case, and even in his best song “I Still Can’t Get Over Loving You,” he actually includes the line “Every Breath You Take, I’ll Be Watching You”), he ripped himself off for this song, which sounds like a demo of “Ghostbusters.” You’re probably thinking “Okay, so it’s a stupid mid-80’s pop song. There’s got to be something more to put it all the way up at #3, right?”

Well, yes. “Girls Are More Fun” was about the Joys Of Heterosexuality, and in the closing moments, offered a warning to those who would stray from that path:

“The world is confused, you read it in the news. Every day they’re finding something new."

Considering that this song came out in late 1985, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what he’s referring to. But he does offer this helpful bit of closing advice:

“To those of you who’ve gone the other way … girls are more fun!

F*ck you, Ray Parker Jr. And your shitty music.
