Oxford Dictionaries Adds “Hangry,” “Butthurt,” Gender-Neutral Titles

"Bruh" and "awesomesauce" also made the cut.
From: NewNowNext
Every year, the Oxford Dictionaries add new words to represent the evolution of vocabulary often created through slang. But this year’s additions include some rather surprising terms.

Additions include ”bruh (noun): a male friend (often used as a form of address),” “brain fart (noun): a temporary mental lapse or failure to reason correctly,” and “butthurt (adjective): overly or unjustifiably offended or resentful.”

“Awesomesauce,” “hangry,” and “beer o’clock” are a few other words that made the cut.

It’s not all slang, however.

The site also included Mx (noun): a title used before a person’s surname or full name by those who wish to avoid specifying their gender or by those who prefer not to identify themselves as male or female.”

“Microaggression” was also included, defined as “a statement, action, or incident regarded as an instance of indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of a marginalized group such as a racial or ethnic minority.”

Check out the full list of new words here.
